The Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer in Poetry

Our Father above, so holy, so near,
Your name we revere, in awe and in fear.
Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
On earth as in heaven, beneath the same sun.

Grant us today what our bodies require,
The bread that sustains, the fuel to inspire.
Forgive all our debts, the wrongs we have done,**
As we, too, forgive every other one.

Guide us away from the tempter’s snare,
Deliver us, Lord, from evil’s despair.
For yours is the kingdom, the glory, the might,
Forever and ever, in endless light.

Amen.

This poetic rendition maintains the essence of the prayer while weaving its message into a lyrical form, reflecting reverence and beauty.
