Psalms In Poetry

Psalm 14

Here’s Psalm 14 rewritten in a poetic style while maintaining its meaning and essence:

The Fool’s Folly and the Lord’s Watch

The fool declares within his heart,
“There is no God!”—they stand apart.
Their deeds are dark, their ways untrue,
No kindness dwells in what they do.

The Lord looks down from Heaven’s height,
Upon the earth with searching sight,
To find a soul both wise and strong,
Who seeks the Lord and shuns the wrong.

Yet all have turned from righteous ways,
Corrupt are they in all their days.
Not one remains whose heart is pure,
None righteous stand, no faith secure.

Do evil ones not understand?
They feast upon this broken land,
Like bread they swallow up the weak,
Yet never lift their voice to seek.

But terror strikes their hearts with dread,
For God is with the just, He said.
Though foes may shame the poor and meek,
The Lord defends the ones who seek.

Oh, that salvation soon would rise!
Let Jacob sing with joyful cries!
When Zion’s hope is whole once more,
God’s people will rejoice and soar.
