Daniel in the Lion’s Den

Daniel in the Lion’s Den: A Poetic Rendition

Beneath the rule of Darius’ hand,
A faithful man took a righteous stand.
Daniel, steadfast, just, and wise,
Caught the envious gaze of prying eyes.

“Let no man pray to God or king,
Save Darius alone, let praises ring!”
The decree was signed, the trap was set,
But Daniel’s faith would not forget.

To his chamber high, three times each day,
He knelt and bowed, and began to pray.
Windows wide, toward Zion’s hill,
He called to God with unshaken will.

The jealous cried, “He defies the law!”
And to the king, they brought what they saw.
Though Darius grieved, his word must stay;
To the lions’ den, Daniel made his way.

The pit was dark, the beasts did prowl,
Yet no fear nor cry escaped his soul.
For Daniel knew, in the lion’s lair,
God’s mighty hand would keep him there.

Through the night, the king lay awake,
His heart did tremble, his spirit quake.
At dawn’s first light, he rushed in dread,
“Daniel, servant of God, are you dead?”

From the den arose a faithful sound:
“My God has shut the lions’ mouths!
No harm was found, no claw did tear,
For innocent was I in His care.”

The king rejoiced, his heart made light,
And praised the God of power and might.
Those schemers fell to their own snare,
Their fate the lions’ den did bear.

Now let the world forever sing,
The faith of Daniel, the power of the King.
For those who trust in God’s command,
Shall rest secure in His mighty hand.

This poetic version captures the drama, faith, and triumph of Daniel’s story, emphasizing God’s deliverance and justice.
